Cardiff to Win

Reason for tip

Huddersfield sacked head coach Danny Schofield after just one win and seven defeats from his nine games in charge. They will be overseen by two inexperienced coaches for this visit of Cardiff, who picked up a very good away win at Middlesbrough in midweek.

Cardiff 1-0

Reason for tip

A 1-0 Bluebirds win has value for correct score backers as five of their 12 league wins this year have been by a single goal to nil while two of Town’s three home losses in 2022-23 have also been by that score.

Callum Robinson To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Callum Robinson looked lively on his debut, recording two assists in the 3-2 win at Boro. Robinson is a proven goalscorer at this level – averaging around one goal every three starts – and pit in a lively performance on his debut. The visitors should not struggle to create chances against Town on Saturday given the hosts have shipped 13 goals already, including five in their last three at home.

Terrible Terriers still there for the taking

Huddersfield bit the bullet and fired Danny Schofield after Tuesday’s loss against Wigan left them stuck in the bottom three – and Cardiff should ensure they stay there after Saturday’s contest.

It was inevitable the Town board would act sooner rather than later because it was a major gamble on their part to hand Schofield the job when Carlos Corberan left in the summer. Coaches Narcis Pelach and Paul Harsley will lead the team against Cardiff while they undertake a proper search for a replacement.

They ought to begin their search within the division where there are some young managers making waves and Cardiff’s Steve Morison continues to impress by his achievements with the Bluebirds. Tactically, he got it right against Middlesbrough in Tuesday’s 3-2 win at the Riverside and the addition of Callum Robinson on transfer deadline day makes them much more lethal than before.

Robinson a proven Championship goal threat

Robinson is a proven goalscorer at this level – averaging around one goal every three starts – and he gave Cardiff some instant pep with two assists on his debut. The visitors should not struggle to create chances against Town on Saturday given the hosts have shipped 13 goals already, including five in their last three at home.

Morison will want a win with a clean sheet if possible and Town’s recent dismal run in front of goal suggests it can be done. Neither of their two main strikers, Jordan Rhodes and Dany Ward, have scored in the last five league games and they seem to be relying on set pieces more than ever.

However, the odds on a Cardiff away win are good enough to keep it simple for the main bet. But a 1-0 Bluebirds win has value for correct score backers as five of their 12 league wins this year have been by a single goal to nil while two of Town’s three home losses in 2022-23 have also been by that score.
