Huddersfield vs Crystal Palace Predictions

After impressively avoiding relegation against all the odds last season, the target for this campaign is exactly the same for Huddersfield. David Wagner simply wants to remain in the top flight, but at the moment things aren’t looking overly promising for him and his side.

They did manage a pretty impressive 1-1 draw at Everton last time out, but four games into the season and they remain without a win. Considering one of the main reasons for their survival last term was their emphatic start to life in the big time, this is a real concern. They have two points from a possible 12 and have already been on the end of one demolition job.

Manchester City destroyed them 6-1 at the Etihad in gameweek two, just a week after Chelsea had put in a 3-0 dismantling back on Huddersfield’s home patch. Since then they have drawn with Cardiff and Everton, but they really need to get some wins on the board to boost confidence among the squad.

This game certainly offers that opportunity up. They face off with a Crystal Palace side who looked impressive in the opening weekend, but who have since seen their performances dip to well below expectations.

Roy Hodgson’s side beat Fulham 2-0 away from home in their opener, and while a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the next game was understandable the 2-1 loss to Watford in gameweek three was more of a disappointment. The low point of the season so far came just before the international break though, with The Eagles losing 2-0 at home to Southampton as they once again failed to make any sort of impact without the injured Wilfried Zaha.

Zaha is still a doubt for this game, and it’s definitely worth mentioning that Crystal Palace have lost every single league game he hasn’t featured in since the start of last season. He makes such a big difference to this team that it’s entirely plausible that his presence can be the difference between victory and defeat.

Fortunately for Palace, we don’t think there’s a big chance of defeat in either instance this weekend. They’re facing a Huddersfield side who seem incapable of winning at the moment, and while their defeats to the top clubs are understandable, the goalless draw at home to Cardiff clearly shows that they aren’t up to the task at the moment.

All things considered, with Zaha probably at less than full fitness even if he does play, we think backing a Draw is the best option here, along with another dour goalless scoreline for our correct score predictions.
