Villarreal to Win

Reason for tip

Villarreal have been one of the best home teams in La Liga this season, winning 12 of their 15 matches in their own back yard, and they should be able to extend that run against a Celta Vigo side who have lost five of their last six.

Villarreal 2-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in seven of Villarreal’s last eight games and a repeat of that looks likely in this one, take the home team to run out 2-1 winners in what should be an entertaining affair between these two.

Villarreal vs Celta Vigo Predictions

  • Celta Vigo have lost five of their last six games
  • Over 2.5 goals has landed in five of Celta Vigo’s last six
  • Both teams have scored in six of the last seven meetings

Yellow Submarine hard to sink at home

Villarreal have been impressive at home this season, winning 12 of their 15 league games at Estadio de la Ceramica, and they are fancied to continue that run as they host Celta Vigo on Sunday.

The Yellow Submarine should be able to take advantage of an away side who have lost five of their last six games, including a 6-1 aggregate defeat to Freiburg in the Europa League quarter-finals.

The visitors can still sneak into a European position but on recent form it’s hard to see them managing to do so.

Free-scoring encounter on the cards

Villarreal on the other hand are sitting pretty in third, with a Champions League position all but sewn up given their 13-point lead over fifth-placed Real Betis.

The home side would love to get a top-four place sewn up sooner rather than later and are fancied to move one step closer with a victory over these struggling opponents.

The home side have won the last four meetings between these two in their own back yard while  Marcelino’s men have only conceded 13 times at home all season and their solidity at the back can be crucial to securing all three points.

Both teams have scored in six of the last seven head-to-heads and Villarreal are fancied to win this 2-1.
