Alaves Consolation in Catalonia Can Reward Punters
Barcelona are hard to oppose here after five wins and two draws from their last seven La Liga home games, but it’s worth boosting the Catalans’ odds by throwing both teams to score into the mix as well.
The 1-1 draw between the sides at Mendizorroza in October broke a sequence of eight straight victories in the head to head for Barca, who have typically dominated and beaten Babazorros convincingly in recent times.
They are expected to resume that trend on Saturday with the visitors winless in five on the road (D2, L3) and 21 points inferior in the league standings, though prices of around 2/7 for a home success make little appeal.
Backing a Barca win and both teams to score makes a great deal more sense, as Ronald Koeman’s charges have conceded in their last four home starts in La Liga. Coupled with the fact that Alaves have netted in seven of their ten outings on the road, it’s clear to see why we fancy this selection at around the 6/4 mark.
Alaves have also managed to strike in two of the last three encounters, but it should be nothing more than a consolation if they do repeat the feat this weekend. The hosts are building a head of steam after six straight La Liga victories and can win through this contest 3-1.
