The Denmark Superliga season usually begins in mid-July and runs alongside the top European leagues until its conclusion in May the following year. However, due to the sporting disruption caused by the coronavirus, the 2019/20 season is now due to end in July 2020.
The Denmark Superliga consists of 14 teams, with the league splitting into a Championship round and a Relegation round after 26 games have been played. The leagues currently contesting are:
Midtjylland, Copenhagen, AGF, Brondby, Nordsjaelland, AaB, Randers, Lyngby, OB, Horsens, SonderjyskE, Hobro, Esbjerg and Silkeborg.
Kjobenhavns Boldklub are officially the most decorated side in Danish football, winning 15 Danish titles before merging with B 1903 in 1991 to form FC Copenhagen. FC Copenhagen have since won 13 championship titles, ahead of Brondby on 10 and AB on nine.
FC Midtjylland – the only team other than Copenhagen to win the Denmark Superliga in the past five years – have a long way to go to catch up to their rivals, with their only two titles coming in 2014/15 and 2017/18.
