After Collin Morikawa won the final Major of the year at Royal St George’s last week, the focus on the PGA Tour now is the accumulation of FedEx Cup points and that quest continues at the 3M Open in Minnesota.

Dustin Johnson, who finished eighth at The Open last week, heads the market at 15/2 as he looks for his first tournament success since February’s Saudi International.

South Africa’s Louis Oosthuizen was close to another big tournament success, finishing third in Kent three shots behind the winner, and he is 16/1 to claim his first Stateside title, while Tony Finau, who has finished second ten times since his win at the 2016 Puerto Rico Open, is 16/1 to get into the winner’s circle.

Ian Wilkerson is here to point you in the right direction for this week’s tournament at TPC Twin Cities and for this week’s European Tour event, the Cazoo Open at Celtic Manor.

3M Open winner prediction: Emiliano Grillo at 33/1

While market leaders Johnson and Oosthuizen had decent Opens, Emiliano Grillo slipped under the radar and he can build on the 12th place he secured at Royal St George’s.

The Argentinian last won a PGA Tour event when he triumphed in the 2015 Frys.com Open, but his confidence should have received a massive boost after his performance at Sandwich, which included a second-round 64 that was not bettered all week.

A lift was timely as he had missed his previous three cuts, but he showed some decent form before that mini-slump when he was eighth at the Charles Schwab Challenge and second at the RBC Heritage in April.

That performance at Harbour Town was at a course where quality ball-striking comes to the fore and the field face a similar test this week, although the course is admittedly straightforward by PGA Tour standards.

Grillo was one of seven players who finished tied for third in last year’s tournament, three shots behind Michael Thompson, so he has course form in the book and he looks attractively priced to make a bold bid for glory this week.

3M Open outsider prediction: Luke List at 55/1

Luke List did not play in The Open last week, but while the game’s elite were in the Garden of England, he demonstrated his promise by gaining fifth place at the Barbasol Championship.

The man from Seattle may look upon it as a missed opportunity as he closed with a disappointing 71 that left him two-shots shy of making a playoff with winner Seamus Power and JT Poston.

However, that performance came after he was fourth at the John Deere Classic when he shot a second-round 63 and he closed strongly in this tournament last year, carding two weekend 67s for a share of 32nd spot.

His game is plainly in a good place and he can make another strong challenge.
