Argentina wrapped up top spot in their group by winning their first two matches of this tournament to nil. However, Algeria had opportunities against them, along with a disallowed goal.
They beat Jordan 3-1 in their final group game, and then they played out a 3-2 thriller against Cape Verde in the last knockout round.
Argentina are looking vulnerable at the back, and this Egyptian side are capable of taking advantage. All four of their games at this tournament have finished with both teams scoring, and they have enough quality in forward areas to hurt Argentina.

Messi has now scored in eight straight World Cup games dating back to the 2022 tournament. He became the leading scorer in World Cup history this summer, and he is also bidding to win the Golden Boot.
With Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland closing in on Messi in this round, the Argentine should be fixated on scoring again. He’s tallied 14 shots on target across his three starts this summer, recording at least four in each of those matches.
Mohamed Salah 1+ shots on target (including woodwork)
Salah hasn’t blown anyone away this summer, but the former Liverpool man has recorded a shot on target in three of his four appearances at the World Cup.
This could be his final appearance on the world stage, and his importance to Egypt means he has to be involved here. Including the winter’s Africa Cup of Nations, Salah has recorded 11 shots on target across 10 major tournament matches, so he should be able to work Emiliano Martinez.
Alexis Mac Allister to be shown a card
Mac Allister committed two fouls in each of Argentina’s opening group matches, and this could be a tricky game for him. The Liverpool man is taking on more defensive responsibilities in this Argentine midfield, and he’s facing an Egypt side who have drawn a lot of fouls in the middle of the park.
Mac Allister received 10 bookings across the league and Champions League for Liverpool last season, and he stands out in the card betting ahead of this clash.
