Paraguay have rallied after losing their opening game 4-1 to the United States, going on to shock Germany in the last 32 to make the third round of the World Cup.

However, Paraguay’s run at the tournament looks set to come to an end against France. We’ve backed a heavy victory for the tournament favourites, and I’ve backed that up with a 41/1 Ultimate Bet Builder for the clash in Philadelphia.

Paraguay vs France Ultimate Bet Builder

France -2

France have been outstanding in their early tests at this World Cup, winning all four matches. They’ve scored at least three times in every game, winning each of their last three by a three-goal margin.

Paraguay opened with a heavy defeat to the United States, before they were able to grind out a win over a Turkey side that dominated that clash. Germany underperformed in their last 32 tie, but the French won’t be as forgiving.

Paraguay generated just 0.35 xG across 120 minutes against Germany, and they meet a French side that has scored at least three times in eight of their previous 10 internationals.

Michael Olise to score anytime

Olise has been one of the standout players at the tournament, despite failing to score a goal. The Bayern Munich winger has been exceptional in terms of creating chances, but he’s also taken a total of 14 shots, and he ranks second for France in terms of shots on target.

Lucas Digne to be fouled 1+ times

Digne started for France against Iraq, and he returned to the team for their last 32 clash with Sweden. The Aston Villa defender was fouled in that win over the Swedes, while he drew four fouls across three appearances in qualifying.

Paraguay’s pair on the right flank, Juan Caceres and Miguel Almiron, have committed a combined 10 fouls, so back Digne to draw at least one.

Matias Galarza 4+ foul involvements

Left-winger Galarza drew three fouls against Germany, but he also committed four. He’ll need to help out when it comes to defending against Ousmane Dembele on that side, and he should be involved in plenty of fouls in Philadelphia.

Galarza had five foul involvements in Paraguay’s clash with Turkey, so a total of four in this encounter seems achievable.

Andres Cubas to be carded

Cubas drew his first card of the tournament in the last round, and it had been a long time coming. The midfielder had committed five fouls apiece in clashes with the United States and Turkey without receiving a card.

Cubas was cautioned four times in qualifying for Paraguay, and he’s been shown 30 cautions in total across his last four MLS campaigns.
