2.30 Norfolk Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Elite Status
Looked a superstar in the National Stakes and a replication of that performance would have been good enough to land the past nine runnings of this.
3.05 King George V Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Desert Hero
Well-backed favourite for London Gold Cup on return and was not seen to best effect in a slowly run race. Bred for this distance and drawn high, which traditionally helps in this.
3.40 Ribblesdale Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Bluestocking
Badly positioned in Newbury fillies’ Classic trial that was run at a dawdle. Almost snatched victory having been held up and clearly possesses a big engine.
4.20 Gold Cup
Experts’ Best Bet: Eldar Eldarov
Landed the Queen’s Vase here last year and close Yorkshire Cup second under a 5lb penalty was a near-perfect warm up for this. Lightly raced and has bags of stamina.
5.00 Britannia Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Bless
French contender who has bumped into two subsequent Classic winners in recent starts. Likely to be underestimated and looks well treated off 93.
5.35 Hampton Court Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Exoplanet
Big eyecatcher in London Gold Cup when racing wider than ideal, having lost momentum around two furlongs out. Probably should have won and can take step up in class in his stride.
6.10 Buckingham Palace Stakes
Experts’ Best Bet: Rhoscolyn
Excellent staying-on third in this last year off 10lb lower and return to 7f in his favour. Too keen when fancied at Epsom last time, but likely to get a better set up now.
