Farmers Insurance & Ras Al Khaimah tips with huge 49/1 golf double

Farmers Insurance & Ras Al Khaimah tips with huge 49/1 golf double

There are two tournaments taking place this week beginning with the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open, which punters should note starts on Wednesday to avoid a clash with Sunday’s NFL playoffs.

The DP World Tour remains in the Middle East for the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, which takes place at Al Hamra Golf Club for the third consecutive season.

Racing & Football Outlook golf tipster Joe Champion has analysed both events and has picked out a winner for each event.

As a double, Joe’s tips pay out at 491/1 and should be backed as an each-way bet. We’ve used bet365 for our prices and new customers can take advantage of their sign-up offer using the button below.

Farmers Insurance Open winner prediction – Collin Morikawa at 11/1

A strong PGA Tour field gathers in California for the Farmers Insurance Open, which is being staged, as it has since 1968, at Torrey Pines Golf Course.

Two courses are in play over the first two rounds with the field rotating around the ultra-long South Course and the shorter North Course before the last 36 holes take place on the South.

The South has also hosted two US Opens, won by Tiger Woods in 2008 and Jon Rahm in 2021. It measures at almost 7,800 yards, so driving distance is a distinct advantage at the La Jolla venue.

An elite quartet of Californians dominate the betting with Collin Morikawa taken to upstage Xander Schauffele, Max Homa and Patrick Cantlay.

Last season, Morikawa finished second at The Sentry then third in the Farmers and he’s in similar form this time having finished fifth on his Hawaii reappearance, reaching 25 under par despite losing strokes with the putter.

There will always be question marks over his putting but his marvellous ball-striking more than makes up for that at Torrey, where he was also fourth at the US Open, again when failing to fire on the greens.

Morikawa’s first PGA Tour title came in California, as did his 2020 PGA Championship win, and he’ll be full of confidence back in his home state having chalked up results of 6-1-7-5 from his last four starts.

Ras Al Khaimah Championship winner prediction – Richard Mansell 40/1

In the absence of Rory McIlroy and Tommy Fleetwood plus a mass exodus of PGA Tour card-holders to California, the Ras Al Khaimah Championship field looks much weaker than that of last week’s Dubai Desert Classic.

Rasmus Hojgaard and Jordan Smith are the favourites at Al Hamra, which has hosted the Challenge Tour Grand Final in 2018, this event over the last two seasons and the one-off Ras Al Khaimah Classic in 2022.

Nicolai Hojgaard and Ryan Fox overpowered Al Hamra in the two 2022 events while Daniel Gavins putted his way to success 12 months ago but, on the balance of the leaderboards, power is the route to victory.

Richard Mansell is a huge hitter who should relish this test. He was 25th last season and warmed up with a couple of solid efforts in Dubai. He looks ready to earn a first DP World Tour win having gone close on multiple occasions.
