Goal Getters: Teams to watch in the over 2.5 and BTTS markets

Born in the south east of Ireland, Simon put his life-long love of football to good use when he started a successful independent blog in 2010. That opened up an alternative route to a career in journalism, and having had work published across a number of sites and publications, Simon joined the staff at Spotlight Sports Group in 2018.

Over 2.5 goals and both teams to score are two of the most popular markets in football betting. Punters often find that picking selections from those markets is a little easier than settling on an outright result prediction for the same fixture.

Of course, some teams are involved in high scoring matches much more often than others, making them great sides to back in the aforementioned markets.

To help you get an idea of where the goalmouth action is most likely to occur this weekend, we’ve compiled a handy list for reference. Check it out below:

Fixtures to look out for this weekend

In the English Premier League this weekend, a Bournemouth team that saw over 2.5 goals scored in 75% of their fixtures since the summer take on a Norwich City side with the division’s worst defensive record at the Vitality Stadium.

On Sunday, Liverpool take their 75% both teams to score record to Manchester to play a United team that have scored at least once in each of their Premier League home matches this term.

A day later on Monday, Arsenal close out the latest round of Premier League fixtures with a tricky looking trip to play Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. Both teams scored in 75% of the Gunners’ top flight matches this term, and the Londoners have kept only two clean sheets in their last 23 Premier League matches on the road.

In the English lower leagues, Stoke City’s meeting with high-flying Fulham promises to deliver plenty of action. Over 2.5 goals were scored in 82% the Potters’ league games in 2019/20, and the Cottagers are currently the division’s third highest scorers having hit 20 goals in 11 matches.

In League One, Wimbledon, who have seen both teams score in 92% of their fixtures this term host a Portsmouth outfit still searching for their first away day clean sheet of the season.

Down in League Two, Crawley Town, whose BTTS percentage stands at 77% for the campaign so far, travel to play a Bradford team that have won to nil in just one of their six league matches at Valley Parade since the summer.

On the continent, the pick of the fixtures are Werder Bremen’s Bundesliga clash with Hertha Berlin, and VVV’s bout with Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredivisie.

Over 2.5 goals were registered in a remarkable 100% of Werder Bremen’s and Hertha Berlin’s league matches to date 2019/20 respectively, while VVV and Vitesse Arnhem’s equivalent figures stand at 78% each ahead of their meeting in Venlo.
