Having dismantled Leeds United at Elland Road 3-0 in the opening round of the EFL Cup, Middlesbrough should fancy their chances of progressing past Stoke City at the Riverside on Tuesday night.
While Leeds boss Daniel Farke made eight changes for that game, Boro boss Michael Carrick also tinkered with his side and many of his fringe players shone in West Yorkshire
Middlesbrough have stuttered in the Championship since then but can get back to winning ways against a Stoke side that go into this game on the back of a 3-0 defeat at Watford and a 2-1 home loss to West Brom last time out.

Blackburn are worthy favourites to overcome Blackpool in their Tuesday night close, given the start to the season both have made as well as home advantage for Rovers, but goals also look assured and a home win with over 2.5 goals adds a little more juice at around 8-5.
Even without Sammie Szmodics – who scored two in the 6-1 win at Stockport in the last round – there have been seven goals in Rovers’ last two games in the Championship, while Blackpool’s three league games have seen 14 goals and they reached this stage thanks to a 4-0 win at Burton.

Watford have exploded out of the blocks in this season’s Championship, reeling off three straight wins over Millwall, Stoke and Derby.
But the Hornets also impressed in their first cup contest of the season, destroying MK Dons 5-0 in the EFL Cup first round, and they are worth backing to see off Plymouth in the competition on Tuesday.
The Pilgrims won their first-round tussle 3-0 against Cheltenham but this will be a much sterner examination and Wayne Rooney’s side have struggled in the second tier so far this term, collecting just two points from three matches.

If there is one Premier League team in danger of being on the receiving end of a shock EFL Cup defeat then it could be Everton, who host League Two Doncaster off the back of successive heavy defeats to start the new season.
The Toffees were beaten 3-0 at home by Brighton before shipping four without reply at Tottenham and, despite the season still being in its infancy, Sean Dyche’s squad has already been ravaged by injury.
Doncaster will smell blood after winning three of their opening four games and may be worth backing at decent value in the double chance market.

West Ham are almost starting anew after David Moyes’ departure and successor Julen Lopetegui will use their home tie against Bournemouth to give his new signings some minutes after sticking with the same XI for the loss to Aston Villa and the win at Crystal Palace.
The Cherries will also rotate after their draws against Nottingham Forest and Newcastle but there is less pressure on Andoni Iraola to win a cup competition and his focus will be on improving upon last season’s 12th-placed finish.
Squad depth could win out in the battle of the Basque coaches and the Hammers have more quality to call upon.

Luton’s return to the Championship hasn’t gone to plan, with the club taking one point from their first three games. Defeats at home to Burnley and away to Preston have been disappointing, while a 0-0 draw at home to Portsmouth was far from encouraging.
QPR haven’t quite managed to perform like they did in the second half of last season, but they’re unbeaten in three games. They’re a good price to add to Luton’s poor start at close to 2/1 for a home win. The Hatters received a bye in the first round and are unlikely to put much stock in the cups this term.

There was not a great deal of enthusiasm about Blackburn’s chances of doing well this season, but Rovers have had a strong start to the campaign and should have few problems progressing in the EFL Cup at Blackpool’s expense.
Rovers have lost star goalscorer Sammie Szmodics to promoted Ipswich, but John Eustace’s team have hit the ground running, especially in the League Cup where they thumped Stockport 6-1 on the road.
Their Lancashire rivals may not be able to keep them in check and caretaker manager Richard Keogh has plenty of work on his hands after the Seasiders lost their two opening League One games and then surrendered a 4-1 lead to draw at Cambridge on Saturday.
