The PGA Tour action this week comes from the Phoenix Open and the Singapore Classic takes place on the DP World Tour.

We’ve called on Racing Post golf expert Steve Palmer for his thoughts ahead of the two events, and he’s picked out this 231/1 winners double – which as always he recommends backing as an each way bet.

231/1 Phoenix Open & Singapore Classic double tip

The DP World Tour has moved to the Far East this week for a low-key Singapore Classic, while the PGA Tour is staging a top-class Phoenix Open, so each-way double fans have two contrasting puzzles to solve.

Johannes Veerman (28/1 for the Singapore Classic) and Jon Rahm (7/1 for the Phoenix Open) can be combined in a 231/1 double.

Veerman is extremely comfortable competing in Asian conditions, having lived there as a youngster, and he boasts 19 top-tens in professional events staged in the continent.

Given how well the giant American has performed in the last fortnight, with eighth place in the Dubai Desert Classic followed by 19th in the Ras al Khaimah Championship, there is every reason to believe the 30-year-old will play a starring role in Singapore.

Rahm can be backed with confidence in Phoenix for many reasons. His form figures at the TPC Scottsdale course are 5-16-11-10-9-13-10 and he knows the venue like the back of his hand, having lived in the city for many years, graduating from Arizona State University.

This time, the Spaniard tees up with maximum confidence, having won four of his last seven tournaments. Form figures of 2-1-4-1-8-1-1-7 from his last eight starts underline how Rahm has taken his game a new level, with a total score in those four victories of 99 under par.

Rahm is oozing control in every department, having played three tournaments this year, and he tops the PGA Tour’s greens in regulation statistics.

Rahm’s main market rival, Rory McIlroy, has played only once before in the Phoenix Open (13th place).

McIlroy admitted he was disappointed with his driving in his only start of this year (Dubai) and rampant Rahm may swing this week’s contest in his favour with superior tee-ball control.

Doubles must be placed by 11.35pm UK time Wednesday.
