Four Serie A sides head into Sunday with a chance to land Champions League football. There are still two spots up for grabs going into the action on the final day, but who will make it? While Juventus and Napoli have their places secured, some big Serie A clubs remain in the race – including the two Milan giants.

With four sides fighting for two places we’re bound to get plenty of twists on Sunday night. Could Atalanta claim a historic top-four finish this week? Will there be more final day delight for Inter? Could AC Milan or Roma make up for disappointing campaigns? With so much on the line, you can see our match analysis and the top four betting odds in our final day preview below.

Roma vs Parma

Nicolò Zaniolo Roma

There’s a real uphill struggle for Roma going into their final day meeting with Parma. They sit three points off fourth as they look to return to the Champions League after some strong seasons in Europe. However, in order to make it they need a massive swing in their direction. First up, the Giallorossi have to beat a Parma side who have nothing to play for. Following that, they need defeats for the three sides above them. Our Roma v Parma Predictions suggest the Giallorossi will just about do their part.

If Atalanta avoid defeat, then Roma need Inter to lose 1-0, Milan to lose and the Giallorossi have to win their own clash by five clear goals to sneak in. Overall, it seems like a tall order. While it’s hard to fault Claudio Ranieri for his short reign, as he’s hauled them back into the mix. However, their 0-0 with Sassuolo last time out means that they realistically can’t make it back into the Champions League. The size of their task is laid out in the betting odds, as they are 80/1 with bet365.

SPAL vs AC Milan

Serie A - AC Milan vs Udinese

AC Milan can still get over the line, although they should already have their place wrapped up. The Rossoneri have been in the driving seat in the top four chase for most of the season, but they’ve faltered of late to slip into fifth. They had to put together a three-game winning run to stay in the mix, which has left them a point shy of both Atalanta and Inter going into this trip to SPAL. Our SPAL vs AC Milan Predictions suggest the Rossoneri will secure a victory.

A win for Milan puts them in prime position to take advantage of a slip elsewhere. Gennaro Gattuso’s reign is said to rest on making the Champions League. He’s had a tough time finding consistency this term, which isn’t great given that the club desperately need the financial boost of Champions League football. They go into the final game as huge outsiders to make it into the top four, but there’s still a lot of pressure resting on Gattuso’s shoulders. That’s left the Rossoneri out at 17/10 with Betfair.

Inter Milan vs Empoli

Europa League - Inter Milan vs Frankfurt

Inter Milan missed the chance to wrap up their place in the top four last weekend. They faced a tough visit to Napoli, but the Nerazzurri were blown away 4-1 at the San Paolo. That thumping means that Inter need to bounce back on Sunday. However, they are facing an Empoli side who have their own ambitions on the final day. They’re in the middle of the relegation fight, with three sides going down to the wire in their bid to survive. We’ve backed them in our Serie A relegation Predictions, which you can see here.

That does make it difficult for Inter, the Nerazzurri have got the toughest game of the four given that Empoli are pushing their own agenda. There’s also been a track record of Inter freezing with the pressure on this term. Their two European exits saw them mess up at home, so there are serious concerns for them going into the final day. While we expect Empoli to make their mark on the game in our match preditions, their away record points to an Inter victory on Sunday.

Atalanta vs Sassuolo

Duvan Zapata Atalanta

Can Atalanta complete one of the greatest stories of this season and book a Champions League place? Even as they head into the final day as heavy favourites it’s still hard to believe. The Bergamo club have the 14th highest wage bill in the league, but they could mix it with some of the elite of European football with a final day victory. That would be a massive opportunity for the club, while it could help them tie down some of their key stars. Atalanta’s top talents are usually chased by big clubs around the continent, but the promise of Champions League football should see them stay. Having grown the team over the last few years, this would be the crowning moment for Gian Piero Gasperini.

Of course, there are still concerns for la Dea ahead of the finale. They made the decision to renovate their stadium early this summer, so they aren’t playing his game at home. They’re actually playing at the MAPEI Stadium – home of visitors Sassuolo. While there’s still going to be a huge Atalanta contingent for this potentially massive day in the club’s history, that is bound to have an effect on the mindsets of both teams. We see the Neroverdi making it tough, but we’ve backed la Dea in our Sassuolo vs Atalanta Predictions.
