SPAL vs AC Milan Predictions

  • SPAL have lost their last eight meetings with Milan.
  • The hosts have been beaten in each of their last six home matches
  • Milan have won seven of 10 visits to sides below them in the table.
  • Milan have won their last four away games to the side at the bottom of the table.

Could Pioli stick around?

As usual, AC Milan are planning to revolutionise their side this summer. They usually have another bright idea following their last plan falling flat, with this season extending their wait for Champions League football. Their single focus on the league this season wasn’t paying off, but Stefano Pioli is starting to turn things around.

Pioli has won consecutive games since the restart, despite the looming arrival of Ralf Rangnick. The current boss will look to continue that form, even though he’s unlikely to stay. Pioli is unbeaten as a manager in Serie A against SPAL (W3 D2), but will that continue? Our predictions point to Milan being the value against the side destined for the second tier.

Milan’s edge

SPAL and AC Milan have met 37 times so far in Serie A. SPAL have managed to beat the Rossoneri only once, losing 24 times and conceding 84 goals (more than against any other opponent in the top-flight). Of late, the Rossoneri have really polished that record. AC Milan have won their last eight Serie A games against SPAL, including their meeting at San Siro earlier in the campaign.

Having pulled off an impressive win over Roma at the weekend, Milan are expected to continue their push for the Europa League. However, they still seem a little underrated ahead of this trip, especially as they head to a SPAL side who have looked incredibly poor of late.

Milan can punish hosts

SPAL are winless in their last nine home games (D2 L7), losing each of the last six. They’ve lost eight of their last nine matches, while Milan have been great against sides below them this term. In 10 trips to sides beneath them in the table, the Rossoneri have produced seven victories.

AC Milan have won their last four Serie A away games against team starting the day in the bottom three of the table. We expect them to continue that run against a side who have been beaten in nine of 13 matches at their own ground. We are going with a Milan win here, as the visitors look to make it three wins in a row. Meanwhile, we’re backing the Rossoneri to pick up a win to nil, with a 2-0 away victory our correct score prediction.
