Kansas City Royals vs Minnesota Twins Predictions

The Royals are flying high at the top of the NL Central division, but they will have been disappointed by a recent home display against the Chicago White Sox where they were whitewashed 3-0. The offense scored just seven runs and the pitching was nullified against a visiting team that came into the series eight games under .500.

Still, these things do happen in a long season and there are few better players to snap them out of their slump than Yordano Ventura, who has been playing as well as any other pitcher in the majors during his last few starts. Ventura is 4-0 with a 1.13 ERA in his last five starts, he’s generally considered to be the best Royals pitcher since Zack Greinke and his 10-7 record overall is only a reflection of a difficult start to this season.

The Twins enter this game less than two games behind the Texas Rangers for the second AL Wildcard spot. They dropped two of three in a recent trip to face the Houston Astros and are in the middle of a tough patch schedule wise. They’ll view upcoming series against division rivals the White Sox and Detroit Tigers as an opportunity to close ground there.

Tommy Milone takes the mound for Minnesota tonight. He pitched seven quality innings in his most recent start on Wednesday, striking out seven and conceding no runs. That was only his first win in seven second half starts and Milone is still susceptible to getting himself into trouble, but generally the game plan for Minnesota is the same, play small ball offense and lean on a quality start from their pitcher.

      Three Reasons for Betting Tips

      1. Odds on Kansas City -1.5 Run Line

-1.5 Run Line are often teasers, but we like the better than even chance that Kansas City takes this game by two runs or more behind Ventura performance. Their lineup should be fired up after the series against the White Sox and the Twins have never been a high-scoring team.

      2. Expect quality from Ventura

Minnesota are tough, they squeak out runs. We just can’t seem them getting much against an on-fire Ventura right now. It’s worth watching this guy pitch.

      3. Milone’s consistency is a question mark

It’s not been a great second half for Tommy Milone. Maybe he continues an improved run tonight, but we’re not going to suggest you bet on that.
