Sligo Rovers vs Derry City Predictions

• Only Dundalk and Galway have scored fewer league goals at home than Sligo

Candystripes can continue fine form in Sligo

Just two points separate Derry City with league leaders Shelbourne – with the latter playing a game less than the chasing Candystripes – and Ruaidhri Higgins’s side could keep the pressure at the top of the table with victory over Sligo on Thursday.

Sligo have pulled away from the bottom two thanks to three wins from their last five games, however they have rarely shone when playing at The Showgrounds – with  just nine goals scored across their 11 league fixtures in front of their own fans.

Derry meanwhile have been in impressive form on the road in losing just one of their last eight. Only Shelbourne and Waterford have picked up more points away from home than Derry this season, with the visitors accruing 15 points outside of their Brandywell Stadium home.

Derry are on a four game winning streak and they should be able to continue this against an inconsistent Sligo side. Each of Sligo’s last seven home defeats have come to nil and a repeat feat could be on the cards, with our prediction being a 2-0 win for the visitors.
