      Aberdeen vs Celtic Predictions

Aberdeen put up a good fight to try and prize the Scottish Premiership out of Celtic’s grasp last season, and were in with a good shout until the second half of the season.

They led the table for a while, but once Ronny Deila’s new look side got into their stride in the latter stages of the season they never looked like losing.

Aberdeen have started the season in the same way, and have won all of their opening five matches in the Scottish Premiership so far.

This has largely been built on a strictly organised defence and midfield, and their tightness has seen them concede just once in these five games. Even this was a very early goal that came from a lack of concentration in the opening minutes of the game.

This leaves them in 2nd place in the Scottish Premiership, one point behind Celtic but with a game in hand over the champions.

It will be difficult for Aberdeen to maintain their perfect start to the season when Celtic visit. The champions have long since been a class above the majority of the Scottish top flight.

They are proving that at the start of this season as well, with only a draw away at Kilmarnock tarnishing their otherwise flawless start to domestic campaign.

While Aberdeen have based their success on defensive organisation, Celtic are showing a more free flowing and attacking style of play.

They are the league’s top scorers with 16 goals in their opening six games, but have also let their guard down a number of times, conceding an average of a goal per game.

This hasn’t translated into continental competition though, and for the second season in a row they have been eliminated from the Champions League prior to the group stages.

The country’s best attack visits the country’s tightest defence on Saturday, and unless Aberdeen go behind early on I expect this to be a close match. Celtic are obviously the bookies favourites, as they so often are, but I think odds of 19/20 for an Aberdeen Win or Draw Double Chance are good value for money.
