Adelaide United vs Newcastle Jets Predictions
- Adelaide United have lost four of their last five, dropping out of the top six as a result.
- Newcastle Jets are unbeaten in five games, moving five points clear of the foot of the table.
- Adelaide have scored 34 times this season but conceded 39 goals.
- Newcastle Jets have scored just 21 goals but have seen their net breached 37 times.
Unpredictable Adelaide on poor run
Adelaide United have endured a strange season, winning nine of their 20 games but losing 11, with the side yet to experience a draw this campaign. They are on a poor run at the moment, though, losing four of their last five and dropping out of the top six, as the club now fight to qualify for the Finals Series.
Adelaide have certainly been the most entertaining side in the league this term, scoring 34 times and conceding 39 goals, and their games see an average of 3.7 goals. This hasn’t been helpful when it comes to maintaining their position in the top six, however, and they could do with shoring up their defence as the end of the season draws near.
Jets set to launch a late Finals Series bid
Newcastle Jets really struggled in the early stages of the season and found themselves bottom of the league but they’ve now gone five game unbeaten, giving themselves an outside chance of securing Finals Series football. They have won two of their last five games and if results go their way, they could end the weekend just six points off the top six.
Goals have been hard to come by for Newcastle this season, with the side scoring just 21 times in 19 games, but they have been able to find the net with more regularity recently, scoring eight goals in their last five games. They’ve also improved defensively, conceding at a rate of 1.2 goals per game, a figure lower than their 1.94 average over the course of the campaign.
Newcastle Jets look to topple The Reds
Adelaide really are on a terrible run of form of late and are struggling to pick up results. Newcastle have been quite the opposite and look likely to find something here.
What does look to be on the cards in this game is goals, though. Both sides concede far too many but both have also found the net well of late, so we’re predicting over 3.5 goals.
It’s hard to see a very clear winner in this match and we think this could be a slender victory for Newcastle Jets as they continue their great recent form. There should be goals galore and we think this match will be won by just one goal, as Newcastle claim a 3-2 win.
