AFC Eskilstuna vs Norrkoping Predictions
This Sunday’s clash in the Swedish Allsvenskan sees AFC Eskilstuna go in search of their first win since the opening day of the season. They are up against a Norrkoping side that is safely positioned in mid-table but in decent form heading into this match following a couple of key wins in recent weeks.
The visitors are the clear favourites having taken 7 points from their last 3 games. The 2-2 draw at high-flying Hammarby last time out was perhaps as impressive as either of the previous wins. A poor start to the campaign left Norrkoping with a lot of ground to make up on the top sides but now they are certainly a bit closer to emulating last season’s impressive 2nd place finish although they will need to maintain their form if they are to seriously get in the mix for European football.
AFC Eskilstuna’s ambitions are considerably less with survival their only serious aim on their return to the top flight. Even that looks like a tall order. They’ve gone 10 without victory now since their opening day win over Goteborg. That sequence needs to end soon but they will have better chances to achieve it than this game.
That said, they do look capable of getting a result. They’ve not been terrible at home by any means. All of their 6 points have come at Tunavallen where they’ve only lost once in five outings so far this term. That’s a decent record for a newly promoted side and they are averaging just 0.8 goals per game conceded at home which suggests they do have some solid foundations which should stand them in good stead in their battle for survival.
Norrkoping’s failure to convert one point into three away so far also suggests they don’t really justify their status as such strong favourites with the bookies here. They’ve only won once in 6 away league outings this term and that was only by a single goal at Orebro. Their average of 1.17 points per game on the road isn’t really enough for a side which was hoping to push at the very top.
Backing AFC Eskilstuna +1.0 Asian Handicap therefore looks like a decent punt here. Read our Asian Handicap Guide for more on this market.
Given AFC have drawn 60% of their home games and Norrkoping have drawn 67% of their away games in the Allsvenskan in 2019, backing the Draw may also be worth considering in the Full-Time Result market.
