AFC Eskilstuna vs Trelleborgs Predictions

  • Trelleborgs have been in great form since the mid-season break, taking seven points from three games.
  • AFC Eskilstuna have not beaten another team in the top-seven of the Superettan in 2022.
  • Trelleborgs have won three of their last five away league games, although they slipped up both times on artificial turf.

Trelleborgs can surmount surface tensions

Trelleborgs’ form is strong enough to suggest they can beat AFC Eskilstuna on Monday – if they can again show that they have no aversion to Tunavallen’s artificial turf. TFF have won three of their last five away fixtures, but each of those victories were achieved on natural grass – which they are well used to playing on at their Vångavallen home.

But their 4-2 away defeat to Brommapojkarna in May and a recent 2-2 draw at Orebro, both on artificial surfaces, suggest they can struggle on plastic. However, Trelleborg had a couple of late chances to win the latter contest while their overall display was in line with their improved form since the mid-season break.

Trelleborgs returned with back-to-back wins over Halmstad, the league leaders at the time, and Norrby to climb into the top six. Kristian Haynes’ side are difficult to beat, having lost only three times this season, and are worth supporting as a draw no bet proposition.

Goals look likely given Eskilstuna’s recent home humdingers

Hosts Eskilstuna appear closely matched on paper and coach Jawad Al Jebouri is now able to welcome back captain Karim Mammar and Felix Michel from suspension – although the former is offset by the loss of Rafael York to injury.

So a tight contest can be expected, but the fact that Trelleborgs spread their goals around and aren’t reliant on one player – in Eskilstuna’s case ten-goal top scorer Amar Muhsin – gives them the edge here.  A 3-2 away victory could well be achieved given how many goals have been scored in the hosts’ last four home games – 19.
