Tip Reasoning

  • Wimbledon’s last three games have included three or more goals
  • Cheltenham have scored in their last five away matches
  • The Robins are eight games without defeat

Dons Conceding Too Many

Wimbledon have won just two of their last eight matches, and one of those was against Non League Guiseley in the FA Cup first round.

Their 1-0 victory in that clash is one of just two clean sheets the Wombles have kept in 19 outings, conceding 33 times in the process.

What makes them such an enigma is they are frequent scorers at the other end. Mark Robinson’s side have already netted 32 times this season, with 13 of their 25 matches including three or more goals.

Cheltenham Hitting A Purple Patch

Cheltenham’s record at both ends is not too dissimilar to Wimbledon. In fact, taking into account just League One matches, both teams have scored 26 and conceded 30 goals this season, though the Dons have played one match fewer.

Michael Duff’s side are currently eight unbeaten, while they have scored in 11 of their last 12 matches, only failing to hit the target in a 0-0 draw with Chelsea U21s in the EFL Cup. At the other end, though, they have kept just one clean sheet in their last 13 matches.

They have only lost one of their last seven matches against Wimbledon, and I think they could spring a bit of a surprise in this all-League One tie by getting an away victory.

Given both team’s defence and attacking records, three or more goals looks extremely likely, while a I predict that the Robins will edge it 2-1.
