Ajax vs Ludogorets Predictions
- Ludogorets have lost all three of their away games in European competition this season
- The Bulgarians have failed to score in just two of their last 15 away matches
- Ajax have scored at least twice in six of their last eight home games
Ajax should have few problems
Ajax are not be as strong as they were for the first leg of this tie following hat-trick hero Mohammed Kudus’s departure to West Ham, but they should still have too much for Bulgarian challengers Ludogorets.
The Amsterdam outfit had few worries on their way to a 4-1 first-leg win and that followed a 4-1 win over Heracles, which should give manager Maurice Steijn hope they can make up for the disappointment of finishing third in the Eredivisie last season.
Ludogorets will have been mindful that they needed to get something from the home leg as they have lost on their travels to Kosovo’s Ballkani, Slovenian team Olimpija and Kazakhstan side Astana in European competition this season.
They do have a decent record of finding the net in away games and they could threaten if Ajax take their foot off the gas, but it is difficult to see them avoiding defeat
Bulgarians can make their mark
There is a big jump from the level of football Ludogorets play domestically and the Bulgarian champions have been out of their depth at times in continental matches.
Ajax can be relied upon to find the net at the Johan Cruijff Arena where just twice in their last eight games they have failed to score more than one goal.
Five of their last six home games have featured at least three goals, so a 3-1 correct-score prediction looks sensible.
