Alloa Athletic vs Inverness CT Predictions

Alloa Athletic were relegated from the Scottish Championship last season after picking up a measly 21 points from their 36 league games but they have started this season in a much more promising manner.

Their campaign began, like much of the Scottish League’s did, back in the middle of July with the rebooted version of the Scottish League Cup. They contested in a group of five teams, playing each team once. Top of the group at the end of this stage would automatically go through to the knockout stages along with the four best runners up.

It looked like it would be a tough ask for Alloa Athletic, who were set to face Scottish Premiership side Ross County, Scottish Championship outfit Raith Rovers and Cove Rangers and Montrose. However, they absolutely breezed the group as they won all four matches, including a 3-2 thriller against the disappointing Ross County.

Alloa Athletic then brought that form through to the start of the Scottish League One season, hammering Peterhead 4-0 on Saturday as they begin their hunt for an instant return to the Scottish Championship. They are now unbeaten in their last 14 matches, with each of the last six resulting in a victory.

Inverness CT’s league campaign got off to a much worse start as they succumbed  to a disappointing 2-0 defeat to Partick Thistle. Of course it’s still early in the season but their performance on Saturday didn’t suggest that they can push any higher than the 7th place finish they got last season.

The start of their Scottish League Cup campaign was a lot more successful though. They won three of their four matches in the group, beating  Arbroath, Dunfermline and Cowdenbeath. They finished second in the group behind Dundee United, who beat them on penalties.

Alloa Athletic have looked excellent so far this season and have already beaten two formidable opponents in Raith Rovers and Ross County in the Scottish League Cup. Inverness CT, on the other hand, have failed to beat Dundee United and struggled a bit against Cowdenbeath. This is in addition to their loss at the weekend and with the home advantage going against them as well, I think they might struggle on Tuesday.

My prediction is for the hosts to give Inverness CT a tough time of things, so I’m backing an Alloa Athletic Win or Draw Double Chance at excellent value odds of 23/20. I’m also going for a 1-1 correct score prediction at 13/2.
