      Amiens vs Bordeaux Predictions

Amiens followed up their tremendous 2-2 draw with Toulouse on Saturday as they beat Metz 2-1 away from home. It kept the good vibes at the club going and while the opponent wasn’t the most illustrious, manager Luka Elsner will be overjoyed to get his second win as head coach. Amiens currently sit 14th with seven points but they really need to improve their defence if they’re going to go up the table.

They have been good in attack with seven goals scored but their xGA of 8.46 is very below average. Amiens will be the home team for this game though and with just one defeat in their last eleven games at the Stade des Costières, it could prove a deciding factor. They have already come up against extremely tough opposition in Lille and Lyon and have come away with a win and a draw so will be hoping they can show that against Bordeaux.

Bordeaux picked up an extremely disappointing draw at home to 15th placed Brest at the weekend as Paolo Sousa’s good run of form came to a sudden halt. It was an extremely close and exciting match but Bordeaux really should have been beating the newly promoted side, especially at the Matmut Atlantique.

Bordeaux have scored nine goals this season, which is a solid tally but they haven’t really created many clear-cut chances, which may suggest that the goals could quickly dry up if they don’t start to create more opportunities of quality. Bordeaux’s away form this season is a draw, win and a loss but they could struggle as they travel to a sturdy Costières.

This fixture ended twice as a draw last season and that’s what we’re predicting again here. Neither side is in incredible form at their respective setting but Bordeaux are probably playing the better football at the moment. We think their away form will hold them back here, though and with them failing to beat a worse team in Brest just a few days ago, we don’t see them beating Amiens. Amiens have scored six goals but conceded five in their last four home matches while Bordeaux have scored and conceded four in their last three away days so we’re backing a 1-1 stalemate here.
