Angers vs Arsenal Predictions

Angers experienced their first defeat of pre-season last time out, as they were beaten by German outfit Monchengladbach. Now back on their own patch, they’ll be looking to bounce back. Another team looking to bounce back is Arsenal. The Gunners were beaten by Lyon just a few days ago, despite leading with less than 30 minutes remaining.

Despite losing last time out, Angers have had a decent pre-season so far. They’ve shown their forward power in beating some lesser French sides, scoring seven goals in three games against Les Herbiers, Orleans and Le Havre, while they competed well when drawing 2-2 with Dutch outfit Feyenoord.

Going forward, as they’ve notched a relatively pleasing ten goals in five warm-up matches, Angers have done well. However, they’ve not been too sharp at the back, as they’ve shipped seven, conceding in four out of five. The fact that they conceded three goals against lower-level teams isn’t great, nor is the fact that they’ve shipped four in two against top-tier teams.

Fortunately for the hosts, Arsenal have also struggled from a defensive point of view over the last few weeks. They failed to keep a clean sheet against Bayern Munich, while they’ve since conceded twice against both Real Madrid and Lyon. Angers may offer less going forward, but Arsenal’s defensive efforts remain weak.

In truth, as is often the case with friendlies, this isn’t the most enticing game from a betting point of view, though those wishing to get financially involved should look at ‘Arsenal to Win & Both Teams to Score’. The Gunners have been poor defensively of late, so much so that Angers will fancy themselves massively going forward.

However, Arsenal’s attacking efforts over the last few weeks suggest that they can overpower Wednesday’s hosts. While Angers looked only mildly threatening against Gladbach last time out, Arsenal created lots against Lyon, while they scored three goals against Fiorentina and twice against Real and Bayern. Such attacking form points towards the Gunners doing well on Wednesday, even if their dodgy back-line is once again breached.

All in all, neither side looks strong at the back, though as Arsenal have offered a good amount going forward against some top sides, they’re backed to outscore their opponents.
