      Armenia vs Albania Predictions

They spurned their first opportunity to qualify on Thursday night. Heading into injury they were goalless with neighbours Serbia but they conceded twice in the dying moments to leave them with an enormous game in Yerevan on Sunday evening.

They trail 2nd place Denmark, who have already played all their matches, by 1 point going into this game. If they win they will qualify for France 2016 but any other result would leave them with a potentially tricky play-off match.

Armenia may be bottom of the group with 2 points but they aren’t as bad as that record suggests and are certainly well capable of giving Albania a really tough examination. Prior to their 2-0 defeat to Serbia last month, all of Armenia’s losses had been by just 1 goal and at home they have been pretty solid. They held Denmark and Serbia to draws in Yerevan while they scored twice at home to Portugal but succumbed to a 3-2 defeat courtesy of a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick so they’ll have no reason to fear Albania.

The visitors have never qualified for a major championships before nor have they even really come close so there’ll be a fair few nerves in the Albanian dressing room as kick-off approaches. Shkelzen Gashi’s 81st minute winner when these sides met in Elbasan in March is the last goal they scored in the group given they’ve failed to net in the 3 games since then.

The bookies make Albania fairly strong favourites but their confidence seems a bit misplaced as although the league table may suggest otherwise, they aren’t significantly better than Armenia and taking into account that they are away from home and under much the greater pressure, the hosts look good value to secure a result at 8/11.

They may opt for a cautious approach that has seen them fair a bit better of late. The 0-0 home draw with Denmark last month displayed their impressive defensive prowess against a side that lacked much in the way of creativity and imagination and if they employ similar tactics here, the outcome could also be similar.

Therefore consider backing this one to finish 0-0 at odds of 7/1.
