Arminia Bielefeld vs Stuttgart Predictions
- Bielefeld have beaten four Bundesliga teams to reach the final.
- Bielefeld have scored in 17 successive games.
- Stuttgart have conceded in four of their last six games.
Final test for giant killers Bielefeld
Arminia Bielefeld have a chance to make a bit of history this weekend when they face Stuttgart in the final of the DfB Pokal.
No team from the third tier has ever won the DfB Pokal and the last time a Bundesliga 2 club managed to lift the trophy came way back in 1992, when Hannover triumphed.
Bielefeld have had to do it the hard way as after beating Hannover in the first round they have faced our Bundesliga clubs, beating Union Berlin, Freiburg, Werder Bremen and dumping out defending champions Bayer Leverkusen to seal their spot in the final.
Stuttgart are the clear favourites and they have managed to play themselves into a bit of form going into the final with three successive wins to wrap up the Bundesliga campaign.
Ultimately, the top flight side should have enough quality to avoid what would be a seismic upset but it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if additional time was required either and in any case VfB offer little appeal at such a short price – s0 backing both teams to score could be the better angle.
Bielefeld have scored in 17 consecutive games and have shown no fear in this competition, scoring multiple goals in all four of their games against Bundesliga opponents.
Stuttgart have hit eight goals across their last three games but have only managed three clean sheets in their last 15 games, so both of these teams look capable of scoring.
Bielefeld may have spent the season in the third tier but will be back in the Bundesliga 2 next term and were a top flight side as recently as 2022. The minnows are on a 12-game unbeaten run and after their incredible run to the final – beating three teams who finished above VfB – there is a chance they can get a result and I’m taking a chance on a 2-2 draw after normal time.
Julian Kania is Bielefeld’s top league scorer but Marius Worl has been their cup hero with three strikes, and he’s either scored or assisted (or both on one occasion) in all five of his appearances in the DfB Pokal so far, and he can keep that run going with a goal in the final.
