Arsenal vs Southampton Betting Tips

Arsenal’s narrow 2-1 win over Burnley on Saturday wasn’t a particularly dominating performance from a side that are challenging for the Premier League title.

But a win is a win, and the Gunners will be pleased to keep their 2^nd consecutive defence of the FA Cup going.

This win against Burnley ended Arsenal’s three match winless streak, and their previous draw against Stoke and loss against Chelsea indicates that their title challenge might be under threat.

This poor run of results has seen Leicester reclaim the Premier League top spot, and Arsenal have slipped to 3^rd position. They are three points off the leaders and behind on goal difference to Manchester City.

Southampton look to have put their awful run of form well and truly behind them. Their run of one win, one draw, and eight defeats in ten matches had them freefalling down the Premier League table.

But three wins on the bounce has them right back in the mixer. They come into this game having beaten Watford, West Brom, and Manchester United and kept a clean sheet throughout.

Southampton have moved back into the top half of the table with this run of results, and they are now only four points adrift of a Europa League qualification spot.

The visitors have only lost one of their last five matches against Arsenal, with Southampton claiming victory three times during this period and drawing once.

This excellent record against Arsene Wenger’s club, plus the fact that Arsenal had to play an FA Cup fixture on Saturday whilst Southampton rested, makes me think that Southampton have a real chance of getting a result. Odds of 1/1 for a Southampton Win or Draw Double Chance are excellent value too, so I’m backing that and a 1-1 draw at 6/1.
