Asteris Tripolis vs Schalke Betting Tips

Asteris Tripolis are already out of the Europa League. They have picked up just four points from their first five group games to leave them in 3^rd position, five points adrift of 2^nd placed Sparta Prague.

The Greeks are coming into this game in poor form as well. They have lost three of their last four games in all competitions which has seen them slip to 6^th in the Greek Super League.

Schalke comfortably won the return fixture between these two, with that 4-0 thrashing accounting for half of the goals Asteris Tripolis have conceded in the group stages.

Had these sides met a few weeks ago, Asteris Tripolis would have had a much better chance. Schalke were in terrible form having failed to win seven games in a row and lost four matches.

But they broke out of this poor spell with a 1-0 win over APOEL, following it up with a draw against Bayer Leverkusen and a 3-1 win over Hannover at the weekend.

Both of their wins did come at home though. They have failed to win any of their last four away days in all competitions, although they have had to play the likes of Borussia Monchengladbach, Sparta Prague, Borussia Dortmund, and Bayer Leverkusen.

This all leaves Schalke at the top of Europa League Group K. They are two points clear of Sparta Prague in 2^nd. The sides are level on head to head results, with Schalke having a five goal advantage in goal difference.

This means that, should Schalke draw on Thursday, Sparta Prague will need to beat APOEL by five goals or more to take the top spot from them.

With Asteris Tripolis so out of form I’m expecting Schalke to get the win on Thursday to secure their 1^st place finish. The odds are pretty favourable as well, with an away victory coming in at 19/20.
