Emery returns to England

Aston Villa claimed four points against Manchester United last season, with those two meetings coming under two different managers. Neither of them will be on the touchline on Sunday, as Unai Emery makes his return to the Premier League.

The former Arsenal boss has a lot of work to do at Villa Park, with his new side fighting against the drop this term. Villa have lost three of their last four league games to nil, making them outsiders as Emery makes his debut.

United in fine form

Man United have seen their form pick up after their troubled start and right now they are flying. While they were unable to seal top spot in the Europa League in midweek, they have now won seven of their last nine games.

United have now kept a clean sheet in six of their last seven matches, winning four of their last five outings to nil. The only goal they conceded in that stretch was a penalty at Chelsea, so the United defence has massively stepped up.

Tough start for new boss

Each of the last nine managers whose first Premier League game at a club came against Manchester United has lost, Alan Curbishley’s West Ham in December 2006 were the last to emerge victorious.

The omens aren’t good for Emery. Aston Villa have lost 13 of their last 14 Premier League games against sides starting the day in the top six of the table (D1), conceding 33 goals in the process. United are unbeaten in their last 23 league trips to Aston Villa, winning 15 of them.

Given United’s form and their excellent defensive record, back them to claim the points in a 2-0 victory on Sunday.
