Real Madrid to Win

Reason for tip

Los Blancos have lost just twice all season in all competitions – these coming at the hands of city rivals Atletico Madrid in the league and Copa Del Rey – and should have enough quality to obtain the victory required for progression to the quarter-finals.

Real Madrid 2-1

Reason for tip

Leipzig have found the net in each of their last nine away games in all competitions but last kept a clean sheet on the road in September. Madrid should have enough firepower, and a 2-1 victory looks the most appealing bet.

Real Madrid vs RB Leipzig Predictions

  • Real Madrid have not lost at home in any competition all season
  • Leipzig have won just one of their last five away games
  • Los Blancos have won two of their three meetings with Die Roten Bullen

Madrid should prove too powerful for Leipzig

Real Madrid edged past Leipzig in Germany in the first leg and the La Liga champions should have too much quality when they meet for the pivotal second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos topped Group C with maximum points in the Champions League and have continued to look in fine fettle domestically, losing just one of their 27 games in La Liga this season as they currently top the table.

Madrid have conceded just 25 goals across league and continent obligations and this defensive assurance combined with the attacking prowess of the likes of Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham – who has seven goal contributions to his name in the Champions League this season – should be too much for Marco Rose’s men.

Leipzig put an end to their four game winless streak on the road with an emphatic 4-1 victory over Bochum last time out, but were beaten 2-0 by Los Blancos in their only ever trip to the Bernabeu in 2022.

One positive that the Red Bull’s could take going into this encounter is their recent penchant for away goals, with the German outfit scoring in each of their last nine away matches in all competitions.

Leipzig have the personnel to get on the scoresheet again on Wednesday but, with Carlo Ancelotti’s men winning 15 of their 18 home games in all competitions – losing none – it is hard to look past a victory for the Spanish outfit, with a scoreline of 2-1 drawing the eye.
