Under 2.5 Match Goals

Reason for tip

Fewer than three goals have been scored in three of Atalanta’s last four games and also in five of Slavia Prague’s last six matches. The two clubs operate in similar 3-4-3 systems that could cancel each other out.

Atalanta 1-0

Reason for tip

Atalanta have scored no more than once in six of nine games this season, but they boast a solid defensive record. with only three goals conceded across their last five games. They have enough quality and experience to edge this clash 1-0 against a game but limited opponent.

Atalanta expected to edge Czechs in Bergamo

Atalanta are expected to take care of business against Slavia Prague in Wednesday’s Champions League clash, but the match at Gewiss Stadium could be tighter than the odds suggest. Ivan Jurić’s side are clear favourites, yet recent form and tactical trends point toward a low-scoring affair.

La Dea bounced back from a 4-0 humbling at PSG with a gritty 2-1 win over Club Brugge on Matchday Two, but they’ve managed to score only once in their subsequent two home Serie A outings — drawing 0-0 with Lazio and 1-1 with Como.

Gianluca Scamacca returned to the squad at the weekend but remains short of match fitness, while Mario Pašalić is likely to carry the attacking burden again. Their home record remains solid, but they’ve lacked fluency in the final third, especially against compact defences.

Slavia keen to make amends for San Siro surrender

Slavia Prague arrive in Bergamo with a strong domestic record but little joy in Europe. The Czech champions were thumped 3-0 by Inter Milan last time out and have now failed to score in four consecutive away games in continental competition. Their only point came in a 2-2 draw with Bodo/Glimt, where they squandered a two-goal lead.

Jindřich Trpišovský’s side are unbeaten in the Czech Fortuna Liga but have struggled to translate that form to the Champions League. Injuries to key defenders have forced tactical adjustments, and they’re likely to sit deep and play on the counter in Italy.

Slavia have seen fewer than three goals in five of their last six matches, and their last two away games in Europe ended in defeat without scoring. They’ve also lost eight of their last 12 matches against Italian opposition, including that 3-0 reverse at the San Siro earlier this month, so a 1-0 loss may be on the cards here.
