Atalanta and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Udinese have won one Serie A game since October 3, and five of their last seven matches have contained goals at both ends. Only Napoli and Inter Milan have outscored Atalanta in Serie A this campaign, and we expect them to halt a frustrating run with a win over the out-of-form Zebrette. However, five of La Dea’s last six home matches have contained goals at both ends.

Atalanta 3-1

Reason for tip

Udinese have Serie A’s seventh-best attacking record and can land a blow in Bergamo, but they have conceded multiple goals in each of their last three games, including meetings with bottom-half sides Spezia and Sassuolo. Atalanta have netted 16 times in their last four home contests, winning three, and they should impress again against a generous visiting backline.

Atalanta vs Udinese Predictions

  • Udinese have only won one Serie A game since October 3, against bottom club Sampdoria.
  • The Zebrette have seen both teams net in five of their last seven games, conceding multiple goals in each of their last three.
  • Only Napoli (58 goals) and Inter Milan (44) have outscored Atalanta (42) in Serie A this term.

La Dea must bounce back

Atalanta’s meek 2-0 defeat to Milan last time out was a real blow, particularly coming just a week after Gian Piero Gasperini’s men were on the receiving end of an upset against Lecce. Atalanta must bounce back quickly to keep their top-four aspirations alive, and fortunately for La Dea, upcoming visitors Udinese are in dismal form. The Zebrette have, however, been involved in several entertaining games of late, and goals should be expected in Bergamo.

Atalanta have lost three of their last four league matches, and while Gasperini’s team have had injuries to contend with, the manner of their defeats to Lecce and Sassuolo will sting. La Dea do remain capable of great feats in attack, as a resounding win against Lazio three weeks ago showed, while only Napoli (58 goals) and Inter Milan (44) have bettered their tally of 42 goals in Serie A this season, with 22 of those coming at home. At the other end, however, Atalanta have kept just two clean sheets since October 30.

Udinese, however, are clear outsiders having won just one Serie A game since October 3, a victory which came against the division’s bottom club and near-certainties for relegation, Sampdoria. Andrea Sottil’s men have Serie A’s seventh-best attacking record this term, and five of their last seven matches have contained goals at both ends, but Samp and Cremonese are the only sides they have shut out since October 16.

Atalanta can edge entertaining contest

Udinese and Atalanta played out a 2-2 draw in October’s return fixture, a game Gasperini’s team were unfortunate not to win after going 2-0 up. That match, however, came off the back of a six-game winning run for Udinese – they are in far worse shape now, and Atalanta are big favourites.

However, five of Atalanta’s last six home games have contained goals at both ends, and with Udinese capable of landing a blow, we expect that to continue. 3-1 to the hosts is our correct score prediction, with Gasperini keen to ensure his side bounce back.
