Athlone Town vs Wexford FC Youths Predictions

Athlone Town and Wexford clash in Lissywollen, both looking for some respite from poor league campaigns in the FAI Cup.

Generally accepted to be the two weakest teams in the league, neither was unhappy to draw the other, and Athlone probably deserve to be a shorter price than they are.

Wexford recently travelled to take on Athlone and the artificial surface was no problem as they won 3-1, so it’s best not to read too much into home advantage.

However, since that win Wexford have failed to score in their four league outings, while they have conceded nine goals. Athlone’s form is not much better, as they have taken just two points from a possible 15 with 13 conceded and six goals scored.

However, Town have added the experienced Lee Duffy to their side since then and he has scored in two of his three starts since returning to full health after contracting Covid-19. That may tip the balance in the home side’s favour.
