Atletico Madrid/Atletico Madrid

Reason for tip

Atletico Madrid have led at half-time and full-time in their last four home La Liga games. Simeone’s side led at the break against Espanyol last week and could make a fast start as they aim will put that ultimate defeat behind them. Meanwhile, Elche trailed at half-time against Real Betis on Monday and may be outclassed on their travels.

Atletico Madrid 3-0

Reason for tip

Atletico Madrid won each of their last four home matches last season in comfortable fashion, averaging 3.75 goals per game. With fresh attacking options at his disposal, Simeone will demand an emphatic victory at home to newly-promoted Elche and 3-0 may just satisfy him.

Atletico Madrid vs Elche Predictions

  • Atletico Madrid have led at Ht and FT in their last four home La Liga games
  • Atleti led at the break against Espanyol last week and will be determined to put that defeat behind them
  • Elche trailed at half-time against Real Betis on Monday

Colchoneros seek redemption at the Metropolitano

Both Atlético Madrid and Elche are searching for their first league win of the new campaign after contrasting fortunes on opening weekend. Diego Simeone’s side surrendered a 1-0 lead at Espanyol, conceding twice in the final 20 minutes to leave empty-handed, while Elche showed resilience by rescuing a late 1-1 draw at Betis through an 81st‑minute equaliser.

Now back on home soil for their first outing at the Metropolitano this season, Atletico will be fired up to respond. The stadium has long been a fortress for Simeone’s men, and the memory of a resounding 4-0 Copa del Rey victory over Elche last year only adds weight to the expectation of a strong reaction from the hosts.

Atleti are clear favourites, and with a deeper attacking pool this year they have every chance of winning by a comfortable margin. Summer arrivals have added fresh options in the final third, while Antoine Griezmann remains the creative hub.

Simeone’s side set to make early inroads

Elche’s backline, meanwhile, was exposed several times even in their draw against Betis on Monday night.  An Atleti win looks likely, but there is another betting angle here that will bump the odds up significantly from the short price about a home win.

History points towards Simeone’s side leading at half-time too, which they did in each of their final four home games of 2024-25. Last weekend they struck first before being undone late on, while Elche went into the break trailing at Betis before grabbing their equaliser only in the closing stages.

If Simeone’s men can repeat their early intensity, the Colchoneros should take control of proceedings before the interval.
