Atletico Madrid vs Getafe Betting Tips

Atletico have made a strong start to the season in all competitions, winning all their games without conceding apart from a 2-1 defeat to all conquering Barcelona. They have looked as well-organised as ever and haven’t really been tested in any of their other matches which have included a couple of tricky trips to Sevilla and last week to Galatasaray in the Champions League.

They also comfortably saw off an Eibar side that had made a dream start to the campaign last time out with a 2-0 win in the Basque Country. It is unlikely a home game with Getafe is going to cause them as many problems as any of those recent matches and Atletico are very consistent performers under Diego Simeone, especially at the Vicente Calderon so there is no reason to think an upset is possible here.

At 8/11, Atletico are well worth backing to pick up a 5th ‘win to nil’ in the space of 6 games. They won without conceding 9 times at home last season including a comfortable 2-0 success over Getafe and a similar result seems likely here.

Getafe lost 8 times to nil on the road last season and lost on all of their visits to the top five clubs, scoring in only one of those games so they’re not really the sort of side who pose the big clubs major problems with their tactics or flare.

They picked up their first win of the season on Friday, a 1-0 home triumph over Malaga. However prior to that they’d lost all 3 Primera Division games and away from home at the Vicente Calderon, they are likely to return to losing ways.

This game comes midweek in between Champions League weeks and Atletico also have big games with Villarreal and Real Madrid coming up in the league so we could see on or two changes. Fernando Torres and Angel Correa could well come into the side having both come from the bench to score and win the game at Eibar on Saturday.

They shouldn’t take as long to seal a winning lead here but it’s not really their style to pursue a really heavy win once they’re a couple in front and even less so given the games they have coming up. Therefore consider backing Atletico to win 2-0 at 9/2.
