Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla Predictions

• Sevilla have lost five straight La Liga games despite scoring in each
• Sevilla lost 2-1 and 6-1 to Atletico last term

Sevilla prop up the table

It’s been an awful start to the season for Sevilla, who have lost three from three in La Liga including last weekend’s 2-1 home defeat to Girona. The Europa League holders spent a good portion of last term battling relegation and they find themselves bottom of the table, having lost five straight league games.

Defensively Sevilla look all over the place, having conceded eight times without yet meeting a side that finished above 10th last term. Last season they lost all eight clashes with the top four, including a 6-1 hammering in a visit to Atletico. Given the hosts’ start, this looks like another routine home win.

Atletico make flying start

Atletico Madrid won 7-0 at Rayo Vallecano last time out, which made them the joint-highest scoring side across Europe’s top five leagues. That’s a concern for Sevilla, who look set for another defeat.

The hosts have won 17 of their last 25 La Liga games and Diego Simeone has won 13 of his 16 meetings with Sevilla boss Jose Luis Mendilibar.

The visitors do at least have some scoring form behind them, as they’ve seen both teams score in each of their last nine games in all competitions. The visitors have scored in each of their last five La Liga defeats, while they’ve scored in 21 of their last 23 league trips dating back to April 2022. As a result, take Sevilla to net in another defeat.
