Hamburg vs Augsburg Predictions

Hamburg should be backed to beat Augsburg at home in the Bundesliga on Saturday. The visitors have lost seven times in their last nine away games and will be heading for another defeat here.

Augsburg are two places above Hamburg in the table, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season. The hosts are in 12th place with seven wins and 11 losses, while Augsburg sit tenth with nine wins and 14 defeats.

Augsburg let a two-goal lead slip to lose 5-2 to Stuttgart in their last Bundesliga game, with Fabian Rieder and Anton Kade scoring for Augsburg. They were priced as 23/10 outsiders to win the game, but still would have been hoping to be more competitive than the final margin of defeat.

The visitors are out of form. Augsburg have lost their last two away games and have gone three games without recording a victory in the Bundesliga.

The visitors have been poor defensively this season. Augsburg have conceded on all 13 of their Bundesliga away days and are on a run of 17 without recording a shutout. They have let in 26 goals on the road, an average of two per game.

A narrow 1-0 victory for Hamburg looks the most likely outcome. At least one of the sides has failed to score in six of the last seven Bundesliga head-to-heads and five of Hamburg’s seven wins this season were by a single goal.
