Auxerre can make home advantage count

Auxerre are the bet to beat Le Havre at Stade de l’Abbe-Deschamps on Sunday.

They are six places above Le Havre in the table, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season. Auxerre, in tenth, have 11 wins and 12 losses from their 31 games, while Le Havre have eight wins and 19 defeats.

Auxerre will be hopeful of getting on the scoresheet here, having scored in 12 of their last 13 Ligue 1 games. They come into this match on the back of seven successive games in which they have found the net.

Auxerre have been impressive defensively at home this season, conceding just 14 goals in 15 Ligue 1 games – an average of less than one goal per game.

Le Havre have been in patchy form recently, with two wins, one draw and three defeats in their last six Ligue 1 games. They beat bottom club Montpellier and Nantes, but also suffered a demoralising 5-1 defeat by Rennes.

They have been vulnerable defensively recently, failing to keep a clean sheet in 18 of their last 19 Ligue 1 games.

Auxerre may be able to edge out Le Havre in a 2-1 home win. Both sides have scored in Le Havre’s last three Ligue 1 matches, so there should be goals for both teams here as well.
