Barcelona looking to bounce back

Barcelona suffered their first defeat of the season in mid-week as they lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, but that shouldn’t mask a terrific start to the campaign.

Xavi’s side had won five in a row before that, each by at least two goals, scoring 20 goals in the process and conceding only two in the process.

They have also been very strong at Camp Nou, where wins over Real Valladolid and Viktoria Plzen mean they are on a run of just one defeat in their last six.

Elche up against it

Elche, by contrast, have had a shocking start to the season, picking up just one point from five games and sitting second bottom in the table.

Three of their four defeats have come by at least a two goal margin, including 4-1 and 4-0 thrashings to Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao in their last two matches.

That means the pressure is on manager Francisco, and fans will be fearful of playing Barca, who Elche have never beaten in ten meetings.

I predict that Barcelona will win this with a -2 handicap, selecting 3-0 as a correct score prediction, with Robert Lewandowski, who has netted in the last four league games, any time score selection.
