Barcelona vs Real Madrid Betting Tips & Predictions

Barcelona have a 9 point advantage at the top of La Liga on Atletico Madrid and a further point on Los Blancos. If this was any ordinary game they may be tempted to rest a few players with the 1st Leg of their Champions League Quarter Final at the Vicente Calderon on Tuesday. However El Clasico is no ordinary game and they would love to pile some more misery on their eternal rivals having already won 4-0 at the Bernabeu in November.

Their form is exceptional and if they avoid defeat here it will be their 40th consecutive unbeaten match in all competitions. They were pushed all the way by Villarreal just before the international break though and had to settle for a 2-2 draw but Barca have won all of their last 11 matches at Camp Nou and they’ve scored 24 goals in their last 5 home games alone.

Real Madrid have lost 4 of the last 5 league meetings between the clubs and rarely in the long history of El Clasico has one side been as strong favourites as Barca are here. Los Blancos this season have blown away the weaker sides at the Bernabeu and have actually scored 1 more goal than Barcelona in the league but when the going has been tough they have tended to often crumble.

Defensively Real Madrid have been exposed by many considerably weaker teams than Barcelona. They’ve kept just 1 clean sheet in their last 12 away games in La Liga and it’s almost impossible to see them doing that here. They should at least be more competitive than they were the last time the sides met with Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo all almost certain to be starting and all fit. They will surely cause Barca more problems this time and the Catalans have conceded in 5 of their last 7 home games so an away goal is certainly likely but it’s hard to see how Real are going to keep Barca’s explosive front three quiet and backing Barcelona to win 3-1 at 10/1 looks a solid punt.
