Barnsley can build on Derby win

Barnsley secured a crucial win over Derby in midweek and they can back that up with another victory over a key rival when Hull visit on Saturday.

The Tykes sit in 22nd spot in the Championship table, one point adrift of Cardiff in the final safe place and two ahead of Hull immediately below them.

The Tigers slipped to a fifth straight defeat in midweek as they went down 1-0 at West Brom, and they could have lost by a far bigger margin.

Both sides have been in woeful form and the real difference has been in front of goal. Barnsley may have just ended a seven-game losing run, but they have at least been scoring goals and have managed five in their last three games, while Hull have just one goal in their last five matches and haven’t scored on their travels since August – a run stretching seven games (D1, L6).

Despite Hull’s terrible form they rarely get thrashed and each of their last four defeats have been by one-goal margins, and with that in mind a 1-0 win for Barnsley looks the way to go in the correct score market.
