Basel vs Maccabi Tel Aviv Betting Tips

Basel are fast becoming somewhat of a permanent fixture in the Champions League group stages, having made the grade for each of the past 3 seasons. They failed to qualify in 2012, but had made the group stages in the previous 2 years.

This is no surprise given the dominance they have been enjoying in the Swiss Super League. They have won their domestic championship 6 seasons on the trot now, and hteir form indicates that this dominance is set to continue.

They have won their first 5 matches in the Super League, scoring 14 goals, conceding 4, and already putting together a 5 point lead over 2^nd placed Grasshopper.

Fortunately for them, they avoided the likes of Monaco, Valencia, Sporting, and Manchester United in the Champions League playoff draw, and they will be relatively confident of beating Maccabi Tel Aviv over 2 legs.

History is on the Swiss teams’ side as well. They have played against the Israelis 4 times in the past couple of years, winning both their home games and drawing both their away games.

Basel have won their last 10 games in all competitions, and scored 2 or more goals in all but one of those matches.

Maccabi Tel Aviv, like their opponents, are dominant in their domestic league. They have won the last 3 championships in a row, but don’t have the same pedigree as the home side in the Champions League. They haven’t made the group stages of the competition since 2004.
