Tip Reasoning

  • Sevilla completed the league double over Valencia last season and knocked Los Che out of the Copa Del Rey.
  • Los Palanganas have won seven of their last eight La Liga home games.
  • Valencia have won just one of their last dozen league starts on the road, losing seven.

Sevilla can see off wounded Los Che

Valencia were undone by two late Real Madrid goals at Mestalla on Sunday night and Pepe Bordalas’ side face a difficult trip to Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan this week as they aim to bounce back.

Los Che looked set to topple the title favourites after Hugo Duro’s exquisite strike midway through the second half on Matchday 5, but Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema scored and assisted each other late in the piece to snatch all three points.

It was an outcome Valencia didn’t deserve based on the chances they created and their overall effort, and it will be interesting to see how they deal with the disappointment amidst such a quick turnaround here.

And Los Che couldn’t really have asked for a tougher fixture to roll straight into, against a Sevilla side who they succumbed to on three occasions in league and cup last season.

Valencia are clearly an improved outfit this term on the evidence of what we’ve seen so far, but they travel to Andalusia this Wednesday as underdogs – regardless of whether that defeat to Los Blancos has left its mark.

Sevilla remain unbeaten after their goalless stalemate at Real Sociedad on Sunday and Julen Lopetegui’s side come into this clash having won seven of their last eight La Liga starts at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, including their 1-0 success over Los Che in May.

Valencia ended an 11 game winless run on the road last time out with an impressive 4-1 triumph at Osasuna, but they’re expected to come up short against Sevilla once again this Wednesday, with the hosts tipped to secure victory and a fifth clean sheet of the season via a 2-0 score-line.
