Bastia vs Troyes Predictions
It has been a case of win one, lose one for Bastia over the last four games. They remain 15th in the Ligue 1 table, uncomfortably close to the bottom and very much immersed in the battle against relegation. It’s a fate that has never seemed quite right for this squad somehow, but nevertheless, they find themselves in a dogfight heading into the 2015/16 season’s stretch run.
In such a dogfight, a game against Troyes is pretty close to a must-win. Troyes has one win and just 11 points from 24 games this season, they are already 15 points below the survival mark and only a miraculous performance could save them. It won’t happen. Their one victory was relatively recent, January 23 against Lille.
Head-to-Head
Troyes held Bastia to a 1-1 draw when the two teams previously met in December. This season’s games represented the first clash between the clubs since 2012-13.
Team News
Injuries have been a problem for Bastia all season long. For Saturday’s match, they are facing the prospect of having to account for the absence of defenders Florian Marange, Francois Modesto and Alexander Djiku, midfielders Yannick Cahuzac and Seko Fofana, and forward Floyd Ayite. Of that group, Ayite is probably the biggest absence, Bastia look a lot less potent when he is absent from the line-up.
Troyes have no significant injuries, defender Johan Martial remains sidelined.
Reason for Betting Tip
Bastia have won three home games in a row and appear to have tightened up when playing in front of their home fans. They’ve got a lot more left to play for than Troyes and we just struggle to see how a home team can be favoured at just 4/5 when playing against an opponent who has scored just 16 goals and conceded 49, regardless of the injuries.
