Newcastle face a battle at the BayArena

Having stunned Manchester City in a 2-0 victory at the Etihad a fortnight ago, Bayer Leverkusen get set for another showdown with Premier League opposition and the Bundesliga outfit may also have the measure of Newcastle.

Bayer Leverkusen have fallen 14 points behind leaders Bayern in the Bundesliga following three defeats in five matches but they have suffered only one defeat in five Champions League outings, recording successive victories over the Citizens and Benfica.

Leverkusen have taken a backwards step this season, with Kasper Hjulmand taking time to adjust after replacing Xabi Alonso as manager, but they are still a force to be reckoned with following eight wins in their last 13 matches.
