Bayern Munich -1

Reason for tip

Bayern Munich are quite comfortably the league’s leading goalscorers with 32 goals after 11 games, they can quite comfortably slot a handful of goals past Mainz after dominating Barcelona in midweek.

Bayern Munich 3-0

Reason for tip

Bayern Munich have scored at least twice in each of their last seven home meetings with Mainz whilst each of the last eight also saw at least three goals in total. Mainz have enjoyed a relatively strong start, but Bayern should have too much for them to handle.

Bayern Munich vs FSV Mainz 05 Predictions

  • Bayern Munich have scored a league-high 32 goals after just 11 games,
  • Bayern won without reply and with multi-goal margins in each of their last four home games.
  • The main selection would have won in four of the last five H2Hs at this venue.

Heavy victory looks likely for Bayern

Bayern Munich host Mainz this weekend with the side currently one point in arrears of Union Berlin, though they can apply the pressure by provisionally moving to the top of the table with a big win against Mainz.

The hosts come into this on the back of a 3-0 rout of Barcelona during the week which dumped them out of a Champions League group stage for the second time in as many seasons, which says something about Bayern’s relentlessness given that they did not even need to win that game.

Mainz enter this clash on the back of successive league wins by a 7-0 combined scoreline, although wins over Cologne and Werder Bremen pale in comparison to the challenge posed by an away trip to the Allianz Arena.

History could repeat itself

Next, the 32-time German Champions turn their sights on Mainz, a side that conceded at least four goals in four of their last five visits here. In fact, the visitors only kept Bayern from scoring at least twice in one of their last 11 away H2Hs, which suggests they could be in for another long afternoon here.

All signs point to goals – Bayern manager Julian Nagelsmann has faced Mainz on 13 occasions in his career as manager of two different clubs (W8, D2, L3), but just two of those games produced under 3.5 total goals!

As such, we’re going for a comfortable 3-0 victory for the hosts as they look to oust Union Berlin from the top of the table in search of an 11th consecutive Bundesliga crown.
