Blackburn Rovers vs Brighton Predictions
Rovers got off to a great start under Paul Lambert but their honeymoon period has been over for some time now it has to be said. Blackburn haven’t won any of their last 5 games and hadn’t scored in any of them until Hope Akpan scored an 85th minute leveller against Cardiff on Tuesday. It meant they avoided a 4th consecutive 1-0 defeat but the lack of goals remains a worry.
Their slump hasn’t been anywhere near as dramatic as that of opponents Brighton however. The Seagulls didn’t lose any of their opening 21 matches but have lost 5 of their last 6 matches and haven’t scored a goal in any of them.
Something has to give here then but it’s hard to see this being anything other than a cagey affair between two teams that are desperately low on confidence in the final third of the pitch. Clearly both teams have scored in none of Brighton’s last 6 matches while prior to Blackburn’s 1-1 draw with QPR in midweek, Rovers had gone 6 games without being involved in a match where both teams scored.
Therefore there is plenty of reason to back ‘No’ in the ‘Both Teams to Score’ market at 8/11 in this one.
Brighton’s 2-0 defeat at Rotherham in midweek has left them just 2 points above 7th place Sheffield Wednesday and despite their incredible start to the season, they could find themselves outside of the top six when they kick off this game with the Owls playing earlier in the day.
The fall that many had expected has hit harder than anyone could have imagined. Blackburn are pretty strong at home and have only lost 1 of their last 11 at Ewood Park so if there is to be a winner, the hosts look more likely and you can back a 1-0 Blackburn win at 11/2.
