Boca Juniors vs Argentinos Juniors Predictions

Saturday’s Superliga Argentina action sees Boca Juniors doing battle with Argentinos Juniors at La Bombonera. The hosts arrive as big favourites to secure all 3 points and will be looking to do exactly that.

Boasting the strongest squad in Argentina alongside rivals River Plate, Boca came into this Superliga campaign as a frontrunner to win it. Dethroned by Racing Club last season, Gustavo Alfaro’s troops are desperate to regain their perch at the top of the domestic game and they’ll certainly be there or thereabouts come the end of play.

Now 14 games in, Boca have thus far met all expectations and have collected an impressive 28 points, enough to put them top of the table. Also having won 3 home games in a row by a combined score of 8 goals to 1, confidence can be supremely high coming into this weekend’s clash and those taking to the pitch will be assured of their ability to get the job done.

Whilst Boca being top at this point of the season is far from surprising, Argentinos being the side closest to them certainly is. Coming into the season under the threat of relegation on the average points table after some poor recent campaigns, El Bicho have thus far defied expectations with some impressive performances.

Indeed, Argentinos are only behind Boca on goal difference and a win on Saturday would see them go top once again. Nonetheless, on paper the visitors are still by far a weaker side than the hosts and having looked slightly less consistent in recent weeks, taking 4 points from their last 3 matches, their prospects still look fairly bleak going into the game.

Ultimately, whilst Argentinos have started the season well, it’s hard to see them sustaining their form in the coming months and their away record is also a concern. They’ve won just 1 of their last 4 away games and have failed to score in 3 of said trips, so it’s hard to picture them posing much of a threat in a venue as tough to visit as the Bombonera.

As such, we’re more than happy to back Boca to to win the game with maximum confidence and feel it’s the best way to play as far as the betting is concerned. Boca are unbeaten in 4 home games against Argentinos and in good form of late as hosts, we fancy them to claim a comfortable 2-0 win.
